As your Colorado Senate District 13 Senator, I am committed to ensuring safe communities where families can thrive, law enforcement is supported, and criminals are held accountable. Soft-on-crime policies have emboldened offenders, put law-abiding citizens at risk, and led to tragic consequences across our state. I will fight to restore law and order by rolling back reckless policies that weaken public safety.
The “Defund the Police” movement has created a system that treats criminals like victims and law enforcement like oppressors. One of its most dangerous policies is cashless bail, which allows repeat offenders to walk free without consequences. Instead of protecting communities, this policy releases criminals back onto the streets—often within hours of their arrest.
As your District 13 Senator, I will work to repeal cashless bail policies and reinstate a system that ensures dangerous offenders remain behind bars until they face trial. Public safety must come first, and law-abiding citizens should not have to suffer because of failed progressive experiments.
Colorado’s current sentencing laws allow violent criminals to serve only 43% of their sentence on average before being released back into our communities. This is unacceptable. I support truth-in-sentencing laws that require violent offenders to serve at least 85% of their sentence before they can even be considered for parole.
This ensures that repeat offenders and violent criminals remain behind bars where they belong instead of cycling in and out of the system and continuing to harm innocent people. I will work to strengthen sentencing laws and put an end to policies that allow criminals to escape justice.
Fentanyl is a deadly poison, yet in 2019, the Colorado Legislature made the disastrous decision to decriminalize fentanyl possession, reducing it from a felony to a misdemeanor. The result? In 2022 alone, more than 900 Coloradans died from fentanyl overdoses—many of them children who had no idea they were ingesting the deadly drug.
I will fight to make fentanyl possession and distribution a felony once again. Fentanyl dealers are destroying lives and should be behind bars, not walking free due to reckless legislative decisions. The safety of our communities depends on swift and serious action to combat this crisis.
The people of Gilcrest and District 13 deserve strong leadership that prioritizes public safety over politics. As your Colorado Senate representative, I will:
A safer Colorado starts with policies that put victims and families first—not criminals. I am ready to restore law and order and make District 13 a safer place for everyone.
